Biography Overview
Robert C. Slaughter is a founding partner of Slaughter & Lupton Law and a highly experienced trial attorney with more than four decades of courtroom practice. His legal career began in 1979 as a prosecutor in Norfolk, Virginia, where he advanced to Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. He later practiced in North Carolina before returning to public service, including serving as the interim Commonwealth’s Attorney.
He has handled well over one hundred jury trials and numerous court proceedings across Virginia and North Carolina. His extensive litigation background provides him with the strategic insight and advocacy skills necessary to handle complex personal injury cases. His practice focuses primarily on personal injury law, while he also continues to represent clients in criminal defense matters and agricultural law cases.
In addition to his legal career, he is a retired United States Army colonel who served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1975 to 2009. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Iraq. He has also participated in humanitarian efforts in multiple regions.
