Biography Overview
Abimbola “Abi” Salu is a seasoned attorney and co-founder of Salu & Salu Law Firm, PLLC, with extensive international and domestic legal experience. She began her career in Nigeria with the Legal Aid Council in Port-Harcourt and at Jamabo & Jamabo, focusing on criminal defense. She later joined the prominent firm Akin Lawrence & Co in Lagos, where her practice expanded to banking and finance, oil and gas law, commercial law, and intellectual property law.
In 1985, Abi was appointed Group Legal Adviser to Concord Group of Companies, Africa’s largest newspaper at the time, handling libel, defamation, and commercial law matters. She co-founded Salu & Co in 1989 and subsequently joined the Nigerian Law School as a faculty member, eventually becoming a Senior Lecturer. She later served on the Faculty of Law at Lagos State University, specializing in environmental and oil and gas law.
Abi has consulted for the Lagos State Government and the World Bank on urban mass transit, advised the Nigeria Gas Association, and served as a visiting scholar at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, D.C. She is widely published in academic journals and media outlets.
Currently, Abi serves as a partner at Salu & Salu Law Firm in Southaven, Mississippi, and is a member of the Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations. She is also an accomplished author, having published her book Weapons of Praise and Worship.
