Stephen R. Cornwell is an owner and trial attorney recognized as one of the San Joaquin Valley’s most accomplished plaintiff’s personal injury lawyers. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he earned a Bachelor of Science from San José State University in 1964 and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1967 before gaining admission to the California Bar that same year.
After serving three years as a prosecutor in the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, he joined McCormick, Barstow, where he handled complex civil litigation and tried more than 100 jury cases involving negligence, employment disputes, product liability, premises liability, flood damage, governmental entities, and professional liability. He later co-founded Cornwell & Sample, focusing exclusively on plaintiff civil trial practice.
