Calvin Clay is a founding attorney of Clay, Massey & Associates, P.C., and a seasoned personal injury lawyer with decades of experience representing injured individuals throughout Alabama. Born in Crosby, Mississippi, on July 30, 1940, Mr. Clay was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1968 and has dedicated his career to advocating for individuals harmed by negligence.
Mr. Clay earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The Citadel in 1962, where he was recognized in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He later attended the University of Missouri before earning his Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1968. While in law school, he was a member of the legal honor society Phi Delta Phi.
Early in his career, Mr. Clay served as Assistant District Attorney for Mobile County from 1969 to 1971. He later held several public service roles, including Assistant County Attorney for Mobile County, City Attorney for the City of Citronelle, and attorney for the Commercial Development Authority for the City of Mobile. He also served as Chairman of the Airport Planning Advisory Committee for the City of Mobile.
Mr. Clay’s legal practice focuses on personal injury litigation, including cases involving general negligence, products liability, medical malpractice, insurance fraud, and maritime law. He is a member of the Mobile Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, and the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association.
