Biography Overview

Michael Vater’s legal background began in high school, when he clerked at the law offices of Houston-Harbaugh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under the direction of Michael Turzai, the former Pennsylvania Speaker of the House. Michael continued his education at the University of Notre Dame, where he was selected to participate in the prestigious Summer Communications Leadership Development Program at General Electric. Michael was later selected to attend the exclusive study abroad program hosted by the University of Notre Dame – Australia. Michael graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in political science and minoring in the world-renowned Kroc International Institute of Peace Studies Program.

Michael also attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he served as a two-time Representative to the John Marshall Bar Association and participated in a multi-year clerkship with Terrence Kann, P.A. In the summer of 2008, Michael completed coursework in International Business Law in France through the Universite Montpellier II. After graduating law school in 2009, Michael participated in a post-graduate fellowship at the University of Florida General Counsel’s office.

Looking to expand his knowledge in the field of business administration, Michael earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Florida in August 2022. Two months later, Michael became the fourth ever Managing Partner at The Ticktin Law Group. At the Ticktin Law Group, Michael has argued cases in Florida, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Carolina, and many other states. Michael has also handled cases internationally, including one in Iceland that created case precedent regarding consumer rights in aviation disputes in the European Union.

Michael is admitted to practice in the State Court in Florida and has been admitted pro hac vice to appear in numerous other states. Michael is also admitted to practice in Federal Court as a member of the United States District Court, Northern District of Florida, Middle District of Florida, Southern District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
