Biography Overview
William Thomas Rieder, Jr., was born and raised in Miami, where his family settled over 100 years ago. He is a civil litigator concentrating in the areas of mass torts, catastrophic personal injury, medical negligence, and insurance litigation. He is litigating claims in the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2885) related to 3M Company’s defective combat earplugs which caused service members to suffer hearing loss and tinnitus. Billy also represents hundreds of claimants in the In Re: Zantac (Ranitidine) Products Liability Litigation (MDL No. 2924) who were diagnosed with cancer after having used the popular antacid drug Zantac.
In 2018, Billy obtained a verdict that was reported as one of the top 50 verdicts in the United States in favor of an injured pedestrian.
In 2015, Billy along with co-counsel obtained class certification on behalf of a class of 1,851 patients at a large hospital system who were exposed to HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C during their chemical cardiac stress tests. The class members’ claims were ultimately resolved in an eight-figure settlement.
